Near Florence, Oregon, we visited the Darlingtonia State Park pitcher plants. I've heard of these plants before because they trap bugs and "eat" them. They grow in sandy and swampy soil with very few nutrients so trapping insects provides a few extra vitamins for them. I hadn't realized they grow in such large patches.
